'The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it.' - Psalm 68 vs 11
- The Lord gave the word
- great was the company of those that published it
The word company used in this verse implies a mass of persons; the word published used in this verse implies to make public.
Brothers and Sisters, the Lord gave us a task to take the Gospel to every nation on earth:
'And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.' - Matthew 24 vs 14 {KJV}
- in all the world
- unto all nations
'And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.' - Mark 16 vs 15 {KJV}
- all the world
'Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:' - Matthew 28 vs 19 {KJV}
- all nations
You see, we have been given a task to preach the Gospel to all human race, we have been sent to proclaim the message of Salvation to all nations. And you know what? Fulfilling this assignment requires material logistics:
'And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him.' - Matthew 8 vs 23 {KJV}
'And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away.' - Matthew 14 vs 22 {KJV}
- Transportation logistics. This cost money!
This means, money was needed in the ministry of the Lord Jesus on earth for a successful running of the ministry. He had a treasurer:
'For some of them thought, because Judas had the bag, that Jesus had said unto him, Buy those things that we have need of against the feast; or, that he should give something to the poor.' - John 13 vs 29 {KJV}
- Judas had the bag
Meaning, he was the one who kept the ministry's money. Judas was the ministry's treasurer.
'Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, which should betray him,
Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?
This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.' - John 12 vs 4 - 6 {KJV}
- Judas had the bag
Now, for the fact that there was a bag means that money was put into it, and it was men (men and women) that put money into it:
'And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils,
And Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, which ministered unto him of their substance.' - Luke 8 vs 2 - 3 {KJV}
- which ministered unto Him of their substance
People gave money to Jesus. Look at it:
'And certain women who had been made free from evil spirits and diseases, Mary named Magdalene, from whom seven evil spirits had gone out,
And Joanna, the wife of Chuza, Herod's chief house-servant, and Susanna and a number of others, who gave him of their wealth for his needs.' - Luke 8 vs 2 - 3 {BBE}
- who gave Him of their wealth for His needs
You see, it's clear in this translation. People gave money to the Lord Jesus for His needs, to support His ministry. And this was the same for the Apostles.
Brothers and Sisters, be that man, be that woman who has determined that through your resources the Gospel will not cease to spread in all the world! Be that ever present financial support to your pastor who tirelessly preaches the Good news of Salvation. Support him; give him of your money, it is proper! Do it always; take it as a commitment unto yourself to finance the preaching of the Gospel. Let it not be said where you are that a Gospel project could not be executed because there was no finance. Never! Give to the Gospel.
Beloved, Give to the Gospel.
'And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work...' - 2 Corinthians 9 vs 8 {KJV}
'Yes, God is more than ready to overwhelm you with every form of grace, so that you will have more than enough of everything—every moment and in every way. He will make you overflow with abundance in every good thing you do.' - 2 Corinthians 9 vs 8 {TPT}
'And God is able to give you more than you need, so that you will always have all you need for yourselves and more than enough for every good cause.' - 2 Corinthians 9 vs 8 {GNB}
- so that you will always have all you need for yourselves and more than enough to continually give
Glory to God!
This verse we have read shows us that God knows how to reward the giver and cause him to always have, both for himself and enough to continue giving.
Moving the Gospel from one point to another point requires money. The Gospel is free, but pushing it out isn't free, it requires financial resources: crusades; media broadcasts; conferences; tracts; flyers for meetings; transportation and other ministerial activities require money, and a lot of it! Therefore beloved, be that man, be that woman. Be one who takes financial responsibility for the spread of the Gospel all over the world. It is good and precious in the sight of the Lord.
Be a doer of this word which I have preached to you — Give to the Gospel! Support the preaching of the Gospel with your money. Glory to God forevermore. Amen.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.
